Introduction to Gyroplanes

Gyroplanes, also known as autogyros or gyrocopters, are a type of rotorcraft that uses an unpowered rotor in free autorotation to develop lift. Unlike helicopters, the rotor of a gyroplane is not powered by an engine. Instead, forward thrust is provided by an engine-driven propeller.
